Luke Shaw Injury: Updates on Manchester United Star's Leg and Return

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw suffered a "double fracture of the leg" during his team's Sept. 15 UEFA Champions League group-stage loss to PSV Eindhoven following a hard challenge from Mexican centre-back Hector Moreno.
Shaw required two operations and is now undertaking a minimum six-month rehabilitation, according to Louis van Gaal, who hasn't ruled out a possible return ahead of the summer.

Shaw's Euro 2016 Chances Rated '50-50,' Latest on Left-Back's Recovery

Sunday, Oct. 18

“Luke is already here, he is already walking with a brace, it is unbelievable,” Van Gaal said after United's win over Everton, per TEAMTalk.
“For now he is fantastic although we cannot say whether he will be fit for England next summer. Like Roy Hodgson says, maybe it is 50-50 because it is possible, but it is dependable on the rehabilitation, and you can not say it now that he is going."
Van Gaal previously stated his hope that Shaw will "play again [for United] this season."

Moreno Apologises for Shaw Tackle

Tuesday, Sept. 15

"I know how it feels, I know how difficult such a thing [is]," Moreno told SBS6, relayed by Football Oranje. "I feel very bad about it, I am so sorry."
Shaw was carried off in the 15th minute at PSV after what United detailed as a "crunching challenge by Moreno."

Shaw Blow Denies Defender Chance to Make Old Trafford Statement

The former Saints starlet had been a vital attacking outlet on the left side of United's defence in the early stages of the season. In a United team that lacks pace, Shaw's raids down the flank injected much-needed impetus.
His prolonged absence has been a major blow for both player and club, leaving Van Gaal to reshuffle his back line, moving Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo wide to fill the void.
