Mourinho outlines plan for Falcao

Radamel Falcao

Jose Mourinho says Radamel Falcao’s return to match fitness is a gradual process

The Chelsea manager admitted the striker needs time to fully recover from the Copa America.
The Colombia international joined the Blues on loan from Monaco earlier this summer after Manchester United refused to pay the reported £43.2million to keep him.
Falcao, 29, failed to make an impact during his first season in England, playing 26 games and scoring four goals for the Red Devils.

Mourinho has used Falcao sparingly during pre-season, wary of the South American attacker’s participation in the Copa America this summer.

Manager’s comments

The Portugese coach also acknowledged how short Chelsea’s pre-season campaign has been and admitted he would be rotating players against Fiorentina tonight.
“Our pre-season was very short and Falcao came 10 days late, maybe today (against Fiorentina) he will play 45-60 maximum, he is going step by step.
“I want players that didn’t play the last match to have minutes, that’s the main objective, I’d like to give minutes to everyone” said Mourinho.

Mourinho intent on landing Stones

The Stamford Bridge club have been relatively quiet in the transfer market, in comparison with other Premier League clubs, signing goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and Falcao.
However, Mourinho is intent on landing Everton’s John Stones and there are reports Chelsea are preparing a third bid worth £30million.
However, Everton manager Roberto Martinez is determined to keep hold of the England international and has criticized Chelsea for publicizing their previous bids for the 21-year-old.
