Tottenham Hotspur Get Court Approval to Complete New Stadium Land Purchase

Tottenham Hotspur have been given the go-ahead for their new stadium plans after a High Court action approved the purchase of the last piece of land needed for the planned site.

The news was reported by Sky Sports News HQ on Friday:

The High Court rejected an appeal from local business Archway Sheet Metal Works, which was attempting to oppose a compulsory purchase order forcing them out of their premises to make way for the new 56,000-seat stadium.

After Friday's result in the High Court, Spurs can now go ahead with their plans, and as the Associated Press' Rob Harris reports, it evens out a grievance from four years ago:

At a reported cost of £400 million, the facility is set to be located next to Spurs' current stadium, White Hart Lane, and will be completed in time for the 2018-19 season, per the London Evening Standard.

This upgrade on Tottenham's current situation—White Hart Lane holds just over 36,000—is sure to be seen as appropriate progress for a club looking to establish itself as one of Europe's best.
