Chelsea close on Augsburg defender

Abdul Rahman Baba

The Blues are reportedly on the verge of signing Abdul Baba Rahman

The Bundesliga club publicly stated last month they would only sell the Ghana international for £21million.
Last week, Baba Rahman’s agent admitted his client had already agreed personal terms and all that was left to sort out was a transfer fee.
The African player has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea seek to replace Filipe Luis, who re-joined Atletico Madrid last month.

German newspaper Bild claims that although Jose Mourinho’s side have had a £17.5million bid rejected in the last few days, they are closing in on securing Baba Rahman’s services.
The Portugese manager has admitted he needs to sign another full-back and now reports suggest the Augsburg defender could be that man.

Stones interest

Chelsea have yet to make a big-money signing this summer but that could all be about to change if they make a third bid for Everton defender John Stones.
The 21-year-old has already been the subject of two bids from last season’s Premier League champions, the later believed to be around £25million.
Chelsea’s approach for the England international has drawn plenty of criticism from Everton manager Roberto Martinez, who has called comments made by John Terry “illegal”.
The current Chelsea captain recently said The Blues are thinking “for the future” by looking at players like the former Barnsley defender.
